President

David Sanford and his wife, Renée, own Sanford Communications, Inc., a company that works with leaders, organizations, and publishers to develop brand-new books, Bible-related products, and other life-changing resources. David Sanford graduated with top honors from Multnomah Bible College. Prior to starting Sanford Communications, Inc., David served as Vice President of Publishing and Internet Ministries for the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. David also served as Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Corban College and as Instructor of Mass Media at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. David Sanford is the conceptual designer and executive editor of the Starting Point Study Bible (Zondervan, 2002), co-author of How to Read Your Bible (Thomas Nelson, 2005) and most recently, the author of the highly anticipated book If God Disappears (Tyndale House/Salt River Press) due out September 2008. Vice-President

Renée S. Sanford has a passion for making God’s Word and God’s love real to women—through teaching and through personal relationships. Seeing God at work in someone’s life is one of her greatest thrills.Renée graduated with top honors from Multnomah Bible College in 1995 after earning a double major in Women’s Ministries and Religious Education.She is a gifted Bible teacher, public speaker, editor, author, and co-founder of Sanford Communications, Inc. Among her credits, Renée Sanford is co-author of How to Read Your Bible (Thomas Nelson, December 2005). Renée also is the lead author of the 400 pages of devotional application notes featured in the Living Faith™ Bible (Tyndale House, 2000). [full bio]

Literary Team

Rebekah Clark is the Literary Director for Sanford Communications. Rebekah joined the SCI team in 2004 and works closely with acquisitions editors at top Christian publishing houses. Since 2006, she has landed contracts for more than two dozen new books. She thoroughly enjoys walking SCI authors through every step of the book publishing process, from idea development and proposal creation to finished manuscript and marketing strategy. Rebekah has been published in a variety of periodicals and has been a contributing author and editor for several books and Bible projects, including three BibleZines™ (Thomas Nelson). [full bio]

Beyth Hogue has been a Managing Editor and Associate Literary Agent with Sanford Communications Inc. since January 2005. In that time she has put her amazing organization skills and knack for spreadsheets to use handling several collaborative Bible and resource projects.

Beyth is a student at Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon, double majoring in Bible/Theology and Communication. Since 2005, Beyth has called Imago Dei Community her church home. Active in various social justice ministries, Beyth is concerned with giving voice to our silenced brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world.

In her spare time, Beyth enjoys traveling both near (spending summers at the family cabin on the Umpqua River in Southern Oregon) and far (an annual mother/daughter trip to Europe). Outdoor adventuring comprises the bulk of Beyth’s preferred activities, whether it be hiking in the Columbia River Gorge or biking through farmland.


Editorial Team

Elizabeth Jones is the Editorial Director for Sanford Communications. Since she came on staff with SCI in 2004, she has developed, restructured, and edited more than 20 books and scores of book proposals. Her discerning leadership enables SCI’s editorial team to efficiently handle a variety of projects with editorial excellence. Elizabeth also works with SCI’s authors to develop great ideas into marketable books. Her superb editorial skills make her a master at creating new book proposals, and many leading publishers applaud her work. [full bio]

Elizabeth J. Honeycutt began working with Sanford Communications, Inc. in 2003, and is now a Managing Editor. Before joining SCI, Elizabeth worked at the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association, where she was part of the Starting Point Study Bible team, designing and writing the bestselling study Bible. Her favorite projects for SCI include working with Dr. Ted W. Engstrom and Dr. Ron Jenson on The Making of a Mentor (Authentic/World Vision, 2005) and editing the forthcoming Man and Woman: One in Christ by Dr. Philip B. Payne (Zondervan). Elizabeth lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband and two children.

Amanda Bird has been an Associate Editor with Sanford Communications since 2005. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Foreign Service from Baylor University and a Master’s in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon, with concentrations in folklore and translation. Amanda’s articles have appeared in Christianity Today, ParentLife, Skipping Stones, and Christian Bride, andshe was a contributing editor for Zondervan’s Starting Point Study Bible. She has also served as managing editor of Midwifery Today and taught College Composition at the University of Oregon. Amanda received a grant in 2006 from the International Center for Writing and Translation at UC Irvine toward the translation of the boyhood memoirs of Tajik folklorist Rajab Amonov. She brings an international perspective to her writing and editing, gained from her more than four years of living and traveling in Central and South Asia. Amanda lives in Eugene, Oregon, with her husband, Brian, and her daughter, Brianna, born in January 2007.

Robin Banks joined Sanford Communications in 2006 as an Associate Editor. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communications from Trinity Western University. She brings excellent copyediting skills to our team from her experience in both high school and college as a newspaper editor and yearbook editor. Robin first discovered a passion for editing in college when she worked closely with a student athlete who was struggling with his English grade and facing possible suspension if he didn’t get his grade up. By the end of the first semester, he had moved from a D average to a B average. She knew then that this was her calling! In her free time, Robin enjoys reading, scrapbooking, camping, and cooking. She lives near Portland, Oregon, with her husband, Nate.
